A security guard at Lingfield Park Racecourse has told how he was shot in the face at point-blank range after bravely confronting two burglars. Steve Swain lost two teeth and needed 30 stitches after being hit with a ball bearing fired from a catapult, as he tried to grab one of the thieves. The burglars were trying to escape after failing in a bid to steal bottles of Prosecco from a bar at the racecourse.
